1. Not only Google, but other 34 companies are hacked at the same time
Since when companies report to Google when they are hacked?
Why there is no list of these “other” 34 companies?

2. Over 20 accounts belonged to human rights activists were hacked.
Was there a “Human Rights Activist” option under occupation when you sign up with Gmail?
Since when any company know what their customers do at their free time?

3. The hackers used a weakness in Internet Explorer.
Well I am not professional, but I am “expert” enough to know web (servers) do not use Windows based Operating Systems, let alone “Internet Explorer”.
What does a weakness of my front door locker have anything to do with the theft of your SUV?

4. Google traced the origin of hacking to two Chinese schools. Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Lancing Vocational School, who train computer technicians for the Chinese military.

Ok, Lancing(lanxiang) Vocational School is a high school level institution. In China, only the top 1/3 middle school graduates are allowed into high school. Those who can’t get into high school will go to this kind of institution which train hairdressers, cooks, etc. low level professions.
All Chinese educational institutions would be on vocation during the time of hacking. Because of Chinese New Year, the winter break in China comes later than in the U.S.

You know what I am thinking?
The U.S. needs anti-China propaganda on daily basis. So this is just another one of the daily drink for drones. Google CEO was cooperative because it is a chance to give Google more media attention.

Can you image if you got a link from hao123.com homepage, you’ll get more than 100,000 ip traffic per day? even 1,000,000 ip if the position is good enough.

Only make a web directory, but the original owner make more than 50,000,000 rmb from this site and even sold it to the biggest search engine baidu.com.

That’s the miracle for the web directory, and later after hao123.com, so many other directories come out and fight with each other, you can’t image that in the english world, the famous one is 265.com, which was also acquired by Google in china.

Here is a little information for hao123.com from PPC Blog

Baidu’s Hao123.com is China’s largest Chinese web directory / navigational site.

What is Hao123.com?

Hao123.com was launched in 1999 and was acquired by Chinese search engine Baidu.com in 2004.

For Chinese internet users, Hao123 is an Internet “start page” that shows paid and non-paid links on the home page and category pages. Hao123’s homepage consists of over 200 outbound links that are pointing to other popular Chinese websites. Categorized pages consist of outbound links to websites with specific topics including:

Weather:
www.hao123.com/tianqi.htm

Maps:
www.hao123.com/jiatong.htm

Shopping:
www.hao123.com/netbuy.htm

Stock market:
www.hao123.com/stock.htm

Properties:
www.hao123.com/hbzs.htm

Automobiles:
www.hao123.com/car.htm

Health:
www.hao123.com/ylbj.htm

Jobs:
www.hao123.com/rencai.htm

Travel:
www.hao123.com/liyou.htm

My Hao123 Personalized Page

To improve users’ experience, Hao123.com offers this “wide screen” version of the directory site and personalized homepage, My Hao123 which is similar to iGoogle. To use My Hao123, sign up for a Baidu login. You can select your background image and add up to 10 customized URLs which will appear on your personal My Hao123 page:

Submit Sites to Hao123.com

An alternative to advertising on Baidu through Baidu PPC Phoenix Nest is to submit your sites to Hao123’s directory listings.

Baidu has an editorial team ensuring the listing quality and managing site submissions to Hao123.com, so depending on the quality and popularity of your sites in China, you websites may or may not be included.

Inclusion may be difficult for Chinese sites that do not already have high traffic volume or are not yet big brand names. Alternatively, submit your site to Baidu to receive organic search engine traffic.

Hao123’s Legitimacy

Hao123 is one of Baidu’s largest search traffic providers and has the highest web traffic among all the Chinese web directory sites. This caused Chinese webmasters to create fake Hao123 sites, including:

www.hao123.cn

www.hao123.com.cn

www.hao123.net.cn

www.hao123.cc

However, Baidu officially announced that besides www.hao123.com, below are also legitimate Hao123 domains:

www.hao123.net

www.hao222.com

www.hao222.net

I think one of the most important things than an entrepreneur needs to believe is that you are in control of your own destiny. It’s is not a product of chance or luck. Rather, it’s directly related to the smarts, savvy, effort, etc. that you put into your business. Plain and simple, success happens when you will it to happen, failure happens when you don’t.

What this means is that when things don’t go well, it’s your fault. Didn’t get that round of financing? Don’t tell me the VC’s are idiots or didn’t “get it.” You didn’t pitch it right. Or you went to them too early. Or too late. VC’s fund companies every day - they didn’t fund your company. That’s your fault. How are you going to fix it?

Same thing with customers/ users. Not getting any traction? That’s your problem - not the PR firms fault, or the economy or the sales team. It’s yours. You hired the PR firm - they screwed up because you let them. The sales guy didn’t close because you allowed him not to. Great products with real customers are born every day - so far yours isn’t one of them. That’s your fault. How are you going to fix it?

The real trick is not to give the “it’s my fault” attitude lip service, but to actually believe it and live it. Never let your guard down. No whispering to friends/ family that “if only so and so did this” or “if only that hadn’t happened….” Always blame yourself. Its the only way your problems get solved.

Groupon Launched in November 2008, Groupon features a daily deal on the best stuff to do, see, eat, and buy in a variety of cities across the United States.

Groupon sell stuff when Groupon want to buy. A great price is only half the battle - it’s also got to be a great product or service. Between Groupon’s top-rated business partners and unbeatable prices, you should feel comfortable venturing out and trying something new - just because it’s featured on Groupon. They want Groupon to be an addiction you can feel good about.

It seems a graet idea for everyone, that’s why the chinese famous SNS guru Wangxing（王兴 he built the facebook copy called xiaonei.com and sold it for a huge price） learn from it, the same idea, the same way, even the same style & color.

But it’s not new in china, it’s kind like a team to buy thing & stuff, and you can get a cheaper price when you have enough people. if they don’t sell stuff to people, then turn to their competitor, they’ll be mad, and cheaper price also help them get a good profit based on the big quantity.

Even i heard many things from big companies like tencent, they have a inner social network, where they can ask other colleges to buy things together, based on the high level of tencent worker, including high education, high salary, high techonology, all other product companies would like to offer such a good opportunities. Even iphone, I heard tencent can buy that only for 2 thousand rmb. yea, I’m jealous.

Let’s have a eye on 美团 and Groupon.

A series of online attacks on Google and dozens of other American corporations have been traced to computers at two educational institutions in China, including one with close ties to the Chinese military, say people involved in the investigation.

They also said the attacks, aimed at stealing trade secrets and computer codes and capturing e-mail of Chinese human rights activists, may have begun as early as April, months earlier than previously believed. Google announced on Jan. 12 that it and other companies had been subjected to sophisticated attacks that probably came from China.

Computer security experts, including investigators from the National Security Agency, have been working since then to pinpoint the source of the attacks. Until recently, the trail had led only to servers in Taiwan.

If supported by further investigation, the findings raise as many questions as they answer, including the possibility that some of the attacks came from China but not necessarily from the Chinese government, or even from Chinese sources.

Tracing the attacks further back, to an elite Chinese university and a vocational school, is a breakthrough in a difficult task. Evidence acquired by a United States military contractor that faced the same attacks as Google has even led investigators to suspect a link to a specific computer science class, taught by a Ukrainian professor at the vocational school.

The revelations were shared by the contractor at a meeting of computer security specialists.

The Chinese schools involved are Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Lanxiang Vocational School, according to several people with knowledge of the investigation who asked for anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the inquiry.

Jiaotong has one of China’s top computer science programs. Just a few weeks ago its students won an international computer programming competition organized by I.B.M. — the ”Battle of the Brains” — beating out Stanford and other top-flight universities.

Lanxiang, in east China’s Shandong Province, is a huge vocational school that was established with military support and trains some computer scientists for the military. The school’s computer network is operated by a company with close ties to Baidu, the dominant search engine in China and a competitor of Google.

Within the computer security industry and the Obama administration, analysts differ over how to interpret the finding that the intrusions appear to come from schools instead of Chinese military installations or government agencies. Some analysts have privately circulated a document asserting that the vocational school is being used as camouflage for government operations. But other computer industry executives and former government officials said it was possible that the schools were cover for a ”false flag” intelligence operation being run by a third country. Some have also speculated that the hacking could be a giant example of criminal industrial espionage, aimed at stealing intellectual property from American technology firms.

Independent researchers who monitor Chinese information warfare caution that the Chinese have adopted a highly distributed approach to online espionage, making it almost impossible to prove where an attack originated.

”We have to understand that they have a different model for computer network exploit operations,” said James C. Mulvenon, a Chinese military specialist and a director at the Center for Intelligence Research and Analysis in Washington. Rather than tightly compartmentalizing online espionage within agencies as the United States does, he said, the Chinese government often involves volunteer ”patriotic hackers” to support its policies.

Spokesmen for the Chinese schools said they had not heard that American investigators had traced the Google attacks to their campuses.

If it is true, ”We’ll alert related departments and start our own investigation,” said Liu Yuxiang, head of the propaganda department of the party committee at Jiaotong University in Shanghai.

VPN means Virtual Private Networking, VPN gives extremely secure connections between private networks linked through the Internet. It allows remote computers to act as though they were on the same secure, local network.

There used to be many free VPN softwares, but most of them are blocked for some unknown reason.

As chinese GFW block most of US social media websites(it’s said there are so many anti-gov people), the VPN become the only way to go out of the china and to konw what else happened beyond china newspaper.

Of course there is also the SSL, but SSL is more expensive and less convenient than VPN, so you konw

and according my experience, blackVPN is one kind of great VPN tools,it also has a coupon now, as you know for three it only cost 5 euros. The Coupon is :WCMMMQY

It’s cheap enough for my kind of normal worker to use it, and learn more from all over the world, it helps the information spread, and help lots of people doing english websites.

blackVPN, your choise to go out of china in internet.

Do you remember way back when the Internet was new and it seemed scary to buy things online? The fear of identity fraud and other security violations was very real, especially when horror stories were broadcast all over the news and spreading like wildfire.

Despite all this, there are now over 1.25 billion Internet users around the globe, so the sky is the limit for online retailers who can do a good job of catering to their target market’s needs.

If you’re already selling products on the Net, then you are probably well aware that credibility is KING with consumers in the information age. People (whether consciously or unconsciously) are constantly looking for little security checkpoints in a site that tell them “Not to worry…your money is safe being spent here.”

How can you be sure that your visitors feel safe buying from your site? That’s a multiple answer question, but some of the lowest hanging fruit in terms of establishing your online checkout credibility is using common identifiers that people can recognize, like PayPal, VeriSign, and especially a trustworthy checkout process like Google Checkout.

My fellow PPC‘er, Page Christenbury, suggested Google Checkout to one of her Ecommerce clients, and you can see the positive results it had on CTR, Transactions, and Revenue practically overnight…

1. What is it and how much does it cost…

Google Checkout is exactly what its name implies - according to Google, “a fast, secure checkout process that helps increase sales by bringing you more customers and allowing them to buy from you quickly and easily with a single log-in.”

Google Checkout is not completely free to use, but you don’t have to pay any fees up front or on a recurring basis and it’s totally comparable to most payment processing services. You only pay a small fee per transaction as outlined below:

2. How can it help you…

Google Checkout can help you in 3 main ways:

A.	Acquire more visitors.
According to Google’s calculations, people who use Google Checkout click 10% more on ads containing the Google Checkout logo.
- Mission A, accomplished.

B.	Bring in more sales.
Brace yourself… What does your current conversion ratio look like? How does a 40% gain sound? Google says, “A fast, convenient checkout process helps Google Checkout users convert 40% more than shoppers who have not used Checkout before.”
- Awesome.

C. Curb fraud.
Google has set up its checkout program to not only protect the visitor, but you, the seller as well: “Checkout’s Payment Guarantee protects 98% of Checkout orders on average - when an order is guaranteed, you get paid even if it results in a chargeback.”
- Alright!

Two months ago I went to the Taobao Open Platform(TOP) meeting, they talked about the open status to the internet to get more opportunities, kind of learning from amazon. in that time I had the feeling of logistic for taobao.

and Now Taobao lunched its own logistic warehouse,

help you manage the product,

help you reduce the shipping fee,

help you promote the product

Four warehouse in the same time, two in shanghai, one in shenzhen, one in beijing.

Seems another amazon is on the way in china.

Yea, most chinese trust the chinese new year will be the end of bad luck and the start of new business.

And this will be the tiger’s year, my animal year. People said you need to wear the red underwear to keep a great blessing from the destiney.

Last week the office moved to a whole brand new three floor building, with office and living room inside, of course bathroom & kitchen, and even some warehouse.

So many things happened during this movement, even no house warming celebration, and me too.

Because of the owner of old apartment, for some reason, we have to move our living room into the new building, and it happened with 2 hours last night, and we(mike&I) have to move my bedroom in the night after 2am.

It was a great memory I was sure in that time, pack everything up before 3am, and call the taxi to take the bags, more than 20 boxes, all the hanger and the garbage can.

Everything is new, my living room is much more bigger and sun smells forward to the southern, i like it.

New Start in Chinese New Year.
