Does too much omega 3 cause hemoraging and broken blood vessels?

I do not use any cooking oils that contain omega 6, I use coconut oil, only. However, I take a flaxseed oil supplement. Will I get too much omega 3, since my dietary intake of omega 6 is so low? ( The only omega 6 in my diet is tofu and almonds).

It causes a thinning of your blood, but I imagine you’d have to eat quite a bit of it to actually hemhorrage. But then again, I’m not a doctor.

Don´t worry, it is almost impossible to take too much omega 3, even if you are reducing your omega 6( which is very important for your general health). Especially the way you say you are taking it. When you take flaxseed oil you are taking 50% as omega 3 and 16% as omega 6. The problem is that by taking your omega 3 in that form you are wasting your money. Here is the reason:

Some nuts (walnuts) and seeds (flaxseeds, pumpkin, etc) have essential fatty acids (EFA), that is omega 3 and omega 6. The omega 3 is in these nuts and seeds in the chemical form of Alpha Linolenic Acid( ALA). Now, in order to be fully available to our body it has to be converted to Docosahexaenoic acid( DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid( EPA). This conversion is very inefficient (close to 10%) and some people can’t even convert any( elders).

That is why the most efficient way to incorporate omega 3 into your diet is by doing it as EPA and DHA, that is fish oil, cod liver oil and krill oil. This omega 3 is from animal origin and is ready as EPA and DHA, not in vegetable form, as ALA.

By the way, the reason to supplement with omega 3 is that modern diets or food has 20 times less omega 3 than the diet we were designed for (by evolution during millions of years).
