I love the features, easy to use, great little product, till you have to go somewhere.
I’m pretty sure that this was programmed by a Republican.
1. It knows where we are
2. It knows the destination.
3. It doesn’t have a clue how to get from one to the other.
Sitting at the end of my driveway, my car is pointing straight down the road ahead to my destination in just 4 miles. The GPS tells me to turn left, go two miles to the local highway, turn right then into the town and double back.
The next time I used it, up ahead half a mile I had to turn right, go another half mile, and turn left to my destination. But suddenly this thing tells me to turn left down some side street. To where? I haven’t a clue.
Another time, it told me to quickly turn right, then left, then right and then I don’t know what it said. Maybe it had to take a potty break.
It sure is flashy and fun to play with, but I’m pretty sure that before programming the Garmin Nuvi 1300, these people designed the war in Iraq.

Bought it primarily for the pedestrian mode. Downloaded cityXplorer for Paris. Should work great on a forthcoming two month stay! Past problem was determining where to go once leaving the Metro terminal, or finding the way back to the apartment after meandering about the city on foot.
For general navigation, I prefer it to my nuvi 660. I don’t need the Blue Tooth feature, and the windshield mount attaches tighter and gives much more rotational flexibility than the one for the 660.
An AC adapter (not provided) is very useful for charging convenience at the apartment/hotel. Fortunately, I can use the one (and the USB cable) that came with the 660.

The nearest Target store to my home is 1.6 miles. This GPS declared that one 3.3 miles away as the nearest. There are 10 Petsmart stores in my city. Nuvi couldn’t fine even one. For at least one address, Nuvi went left instead of right at the last turn; wild goose chase, except I knew it was wrong. Garmin tech wrote that when using the CityXplorer in the pedestrian mode, you have to walk “consistently” at 3 mph.

I just got the new Garmin Nuvi 1300. It came with no instructions, an online registration where the new unit was not listed as an available product, and a power cord for the car only. No USB cord or home charging cord, even though these cords are now often universal (charging cord doubles as USB cord, etc.) It seems they want to make their money from you buying accessories. Very disappointed with getting a stripped down product that requires numerous add-on’s.
Turning it on, it requires you to enter the language and the country, every time!? Then, when I selected “map,” instead of showing me where I was in the USA, it indicated I was somewhere in China! This unit needs some corrections–but without the USB connector, it will be hard to upgrade the firmware.

It has been weeks since I got this GPS and it is yet to locate a satellite. I looked up to see what the problem might be and found out that I have to get a Garmin USB cord (which should have been provided with the product in the first place) and hook it up to a computer and download some software etc. etc. I don’t understand why I should have to go through all that. I am not technically savvy so I doubt that I will ever get to use this thing.
